In this week's session we began the 4 week self defence workshop for seniors.
After starting the session with some calming yoga, participants learnt how to keep themselves safe by learning about Krav Maga.
This is an Israeli martial art that was created by Imi Lichtenfeld in the 1930s and developed for the Israel Defence Forces. Since then it has been used all over the world. It has hebrew origin, with Krav meaning 'combat' and Maga meaning 'contact'.
The practice uses a combination of techniques such as judo, karate, boxing and wrestling. Examples include cross body punch, backward roll, shoulder throw and opposite side wrist release.
Seniors are understanding how to defend themselves by learning about this effective fighting system designed for self protection and physical training.
