It was wonderful and inspiring to see so many people turning up to be the best version of themselves by attending the Successful Ageing session once again.
After Baljeet’s warm welcome and introduction, Satpal started his 'conditioning the Mind & Body' session. With everyone settled and seated, the session began with a short gratitude affirmation, to be grateful for all that we have in our lives. This was followed by an energetic cardio session with music. This was great for heart and lung and coordination.
Once the body was warmed up we went into doing some strength training which is absolutely essential for successful ageing. Benefits include strengthened muscles, connecting tissues, bones, joints and improved mobility. Resistance bands were used to work and strengthen the quads, hamstring, inner and outer parts of the legs, biceps and triceps.
After a cool down and stretch, Satpal asked the group to make 2 essential changes in their lives:
1. First thing in the morning drink water with either lemon or apple cider vinegar in it - to cleanse and alkaline their body
2. To have Turmeric every single day - to reduce inflammation (pain in the joints) in and help clear up the digestive system.
Turmeric can be mixed in a smoothie or used to make a healthy Golden Milk Drink
To make a Golden Milk Drink:
1. Boil any type of milk
2. Add a tea spoon of turmeric
3. Add honey & almonds to make it even more healthy, tasty and beneficial.
We will discuss the beneficial effects of having turmeric everyday for 7 days next week.
Finally, we closed the session with a soothing Simran Meditation to allow members to relax.
